UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Special US Attorney Robert Muller, who is investigating the alleged influence of Russia on the conduct of US presidential elections, checks the financing of the Trump fund by Ukrainian billionaire Viktor Pinchuk, The New York Times reports citing informed sources.
According to the publication, the charity fund received 150 thousand dollars in the fall of 2015 for a 20-minute speech by the future head of the White House on video communication to the participants of the forum in Kiev.
The contribution of Pinchuk, who sought closer ties for Ukraine in the West, became the most generous financial injection into the fund, received in 2015 from someone else, besides Donald Trump himself.
“The payment from Pinchuk is curious, because it comes during the campaign, belongs to a foreigner and looks like an attempt to buy influence, ” – cites the New York Times quotation of ex-tax department expert Marcus Owens.
In turn, representatives of the fund said that Pinchuk made a contribution in September 2015, when there were several candidates for the post of the head of the White House from the Republican Party, and the funds were not going to be used for the work of the campaign headquarters.
The personal lawyer of the American lawyer could not comment on this.
