US strikes Iranian-backed groups in Syria

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — US-led anti-ISIS coalition forces have carried out air strikes on Iranian-backed Hezbollah units in Syria’s Deir Zor region.

Coalition planes attacked elements of terrorist groups commanded by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps that support Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Four Hezbollah tanks in the Ebulkemal district were destroyed during the attack, and some armed fighters were also neutralized.

Coalition jets have also intensified reconnaissance flights over areas where Iranian-backed groups are located.

The AA yesterday and yesterday reported military reinforcements west of Deirizor, where Iranian and Syrian regime forces are stationed, and east, where the US and YPG / PKK terrorist organizations are stationed. Deirizor Province is divided into two parts by the Euphrates River.

Tensions between the parties in Syria have increased following the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by a US attack on Baghdad.
