UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The US Treasury Department warned on Thursday that anyone in the world helping fuel US-blacklisted Iranian ships risked being listed.
The ministry listed Iranian oil tanker Adrian Daraya, the centerpiece of a confrontation between Washington and Tehran, on August 30.
Washington has warned that it would consider any assistance given to the ship in support of a terrorist organization, specifically the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The US State Department also said any transfer of oil to Syria from the tanker “supports the terrorism” of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
A British force seized the tanker, named Grace 1, off the coast of Gibraltar in July on suspicion of transporting an oil shipment to Syria in violation of EU sanctions.
