UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The US ambassador in Moscow, John Huntsman, sent a letter to the Russian Foreign Ministry stating that the US authorities are preparing new sanctions against Russia. This is reported by Kommersant.
The first part of the letter describes the motives of the military operation, which the United States and its allies held in Syria. Washington is firmly convinced that the Syrian authorities are to blame for the use of chemical weapons in the Duma. In this regard, the American leadership believes that the world community should take steps to stop Assad.
The second part of the letter informs that Washington is preparing a new package of sanctions against Moscow “for the support of the Syrian regime.”
On the night of April 13-14, the United States, France and the United Kingdom launched air strikes against objects in Syria, firing more than 100 missiles, most of which were successfully shot down by Syrian air defense systems. The reason for the attack were reports of the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian authorities, despite the fact that no evidence was ever submitted.
