UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The US stock market closed lower on Monday as health care shares plunged and investor sentiment was weighed down by higher oil prices and the deadline for US-imposed exemptions on steel and aluminum imports.
The Dow Jones industrial average shed 148.04 points, or 0.61 percent, to close at 24,163.15.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index shed 21.86 points, or 0.82 percent, to 2,648.05.
The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 53.53 points, or 0.75 percent, to finish at 7,066.27 Monday.
