Wall Street is retreating – investors heading to safe havens due to the virus’s fears

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — US stocks opened sharply lower on Friday, as the number of global Coronavirus infections exceeded 100,000, and anxious investors took refuge in assets considered safe haven such as bonds and gold.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 664.07 points, or 2.54 percent, to 25,457.21 points.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell 69.74 points, or 2.31 percent, to 2,954.20 points.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 269.58 points, or 3.08 percent, to 8,469.02 points.
