Washington confirms second US coronavirus death

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Washington state health officials reported a second death from a coronavirus in the US on Sunday evening, and the New York Governor confirmed the first case of infection in the state, indicating an expanding spread of the virus in the country.

Coronavirus, which appeared in China late last year, hit global markets, spreading rapidly around the world.

In Florida, a health emergency was declared Sunday evening after confirming the first two infections.

Presidential administration officials Donald Trump on Sunday tried to ease fears of an approaching global recession by saying that the public and the media are too keen on the coronavirus and that stocks will recover thanks to good fundamentals in the US economy.

The total number of confirmed cases of infection in the United States exceeded 75 with two deaths – both in Washington state. According to the World Health Organization, more than 87,000 infections and nearly 3,000 deaths in 60 countries have been reported worldwide.
