Washington does not rule out a new strike against Syria

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –┬áThe House of Representatives does not exclude a new strike against Syria in case of new incidents with the use of chemical weapons.

The United States can still hit Syria if there are new incidents involving the use of chemical weapons in the country, said Wednesday Ed Royce, a member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress.

“I do not doubt that there will be other military strikes if President Bashar al-Assad did not understand the message,” said Royce during hearings of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee.

According to him, the United States needs a strategy to obtain a “political solution that goes beyond Assad’s presidency to ensure a lasting peace”.

The United States , the United Kingdom and France fired on April 14 more than 100 missiles against Syrian government facilities that they said were used to make chemical weapons.

The Syrian authorities have repeatedly stated that the entire chemical arsenal has been removed from the country under the control of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
