Washington reports 22 new cases of coronavirus and 3 new deaths

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — NEW: Washington state reports 22 new cases of coronavirus and 3 new deaths, raising total to 102 cases and 16 dead.

The number of cases in King County has reached 71 and Snohomish County reports 27 confirmed cases. Grant, Jefferson, Pierce and Clark counties all each report one confirmed case.

At least 10 of those who died in King County were residents of Life Care Center, a nursing home in Kirkland. Researchers say the virus may have been circulating undetected for weeks.

The Jefferson County case is a man in his 60s who is recovering at home.

A Jefferson County Health spokesman said he likely was exposed to the coronavirus during a visit to a family member in Kirkland “where community-level transmission is occurring.”
