WhatsApp has a “night mode” – How does it turn on?

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — Users of the Facebook-owned WhatsApp messenger, chatting in the dark, will now be able to significantly reduce eye strain – the “night mode” with a dark appearance has officially appeared in the service’s applications.

In addition to visual comfort, the “Dark Theme” (as the mode is officially called in the settings) will help to save a little battery on smartphones with OLED screens – their pixels are completely turned off when you need to display black.

True, the chat window will be completely black only on iOS, while Android uses a dark bluish-gray tint.

If you have Android 10 or iOS 13 installed on your smartphone, WhatsApp’s night mode can turn on automatically on a schedule or work continuously, repeating the corresponding system setting. Before this, you need to make sure that the application has already been updated to the latest version.

For devices with older versions of Android, the mode is turned on manually in the settings of the messenger (“Settings” => “Chats” => “Subject”). In this case, the option of automatic mode switching depending on the time of day is not provided.
