WHO: 500 people from Doma suffer from symptoms of exposure to toxic chemicals

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –  The World Health Organization (WHO) condemned an alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria’s Douma over the weekend and said an estimated 500 people had gone to medical facilities “with signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals.”

“FAO calls for immediate and unhindered access to the area to provide care for those affected, to assess health impacts and to provide a comprehensive response to public health requirements,” said Peter Salama, FAO’s deputy director-general for emergencies and response.

United Nations relief agencies are unable to reach most of the eastern Ghouta, including Duma, where the alleged attack took place.
