Yemen: Houthis carry out an attack by drones on Najran and Jizan

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The Houthi group Ansar Allah announced on Wednesday the launching of drone attacks targeting military positions of the Saudi army in Najran and Jizan, southwest of the kingdom.

A spokesman for the armed forces loyal to the group “Ansar Allah”, Brigadier General Yahya Sari, in a statement, “The Air Force carried out two attacks by a number of aircraft (bombers 2K) towards Najran and Jizan.”

He said that the first operation targeted an important military site in Najran, and that the injury was direct.

He added that the second operation targeted a new camp for the Saudi army off Jizan, pointing out that the injury was accurate and left a large number of dead and wounded.

The spokesman for the armed forces loyal to the Houthis, that these operations come within the framework of the legitimate response to the coalition’s operations and the ongoing siege on the Yemeni people.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading a military alliance to support President Hadi’s forces to restore the country’s rule after the Houthis took control of the capital Sanaa and several areas in Yemen.

To date, the bloody conflict in the country has displaced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes, cities and villages, spreading infectious and famine diseases in some areas, and substantial destruction of the country’s infrastructure.

It also resulted, according to statistics of UN bodies and organizations, killing and injuring hundreds of thousands of civilians, as well as the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the spread of diseases and epidemics, especially cholera, and the decline in the size of cash reserves.
