Yemen: Senior commander of the Saudi army has been killed

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — A senior Saudi commander was killed on Thursday during a military operation in the eastern Yemeni region of Hadramaut, a military source quoted by Turkish news agency Anadolu as saying.

The commander and several pro-Riyad coalition soldiers were killed while on a mission in Shibam town, the source told Anadolu on condition of anonymity for security reasons.

The Saudi aggression coalition has not yet commented on the reported incident.

Some sources of information said that the killed commander was Colonel Bandar bin Mazid al-Otaibi who was killed in the company of several other soldiers of the Saudi coalition in the bomb blast.

Meanwhile, another dispatch from the province of Hajjah reports the deaths of other Saudi mercenaries.

The Saba news site reported that the Yemeni army’s engineering unit had managed, during an operation in the Heyran area on Thursday, to destroy an armored vehicle of the coalition, killing some 10 mercenaries of the Riyadh coalition.

Yemeni and Ansarallah army snipers killed five coalition soldiers in an operation in the northwestern Harad district. A number of Riyadh mercenaries were also injured.

The Al-Masirah news channel reported that Yemeni forces targeted the Saudis near the Alab border crossing with a Zelzal-1 missile on Thursday, killing a number of mercenaries in Riyadh.
