UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The Saudi-backed Yemeni government said on Friday it considered the killing of a prominent Iranian military commander, Qassem Soleimani, an important step to end the conflict in the region.
This came in a Twitter Tweet by Muammar Al-Iryani, Minister of Information in the internationally recognized Yemeni government, after a US air strike in Iraq killed Soleimani.
Al-Iryani said, “The position of the Houthi militia does not represent Yemen and the Yemenis even in their areas of control. Everyone stands as one bloc against the Iranian project, and looks at the killing of Soleimani and the undermining of expansionist policies and the efforts of Iranian hegemony as an important step to end the wars and conflicts and bring security and stability to the countries of the region.”
