UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Media reported that YouTube and TikTok will have a competitor. DreamWorks co-founder and former head of Walt Disney Studios, Jeffrey Katzenberg, together with former HP president Meg Whitman, are engaged in its creation.
The service will be called Quibi. Access to it will be available only through mobile devices. So far, Quibi is available on the App Store and Google Play for pre-order.
The official launch of the service should take place on April 6.
Quibi will show mostly original shows and short films lasting up to ten minutes. The authors of the project declare that the content will have a Hollywood quality. Service, of course, implies a paid access model. Subscription prices will start at $ 4.99 per month.
Interestingly, Quibi is positioned precisely as a competitor to Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, and not Netflix , for example. That’s because it is intended only for mobile devices.
