SYRIA (OBSERVATORY) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on air of Rossiya 1 that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria.
“Chemical weapons in Syria were destroyed, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons signed this,” Zakharov cites Zvezda .
She noted that chemical substances on the territory of Syria are used by extremists and militants.
“This is a proven fact, and every time a new city, populated point, the village is taken by the Syrian army, they find caches with chemicals,” the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons was under strict international control.
