RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed Thursday that the footage of the use of chemical weapons in the eastern Ghouta was fabricated.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday that Moscow supports an immediate inquiry into reports of a chemical attack in Syria.
“Russia supports an immediate and objective investigation into the unfounded anti-Syrian accusations by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and we strongly support this position in the UN Security Council,” Zakharova told a news conference.
Zakharova said that the Russian military, in coordination with the Syrian government, is ready to provide safe working conditions for experts on the ground.
Zakharova stressed that Russia tried to call for a realistic view and logical analysis of this fabricated news.
Zakharova said Russia had reported that the Russian military and specialists had visited the place where reports of a chemical attack had been reported, but the West did not want to hear the Russian side’s comments.
The spokeswoman pointed out that the Syrian government does not need to use the chemical because it was surrounding the insurgents insurgents, and pointed to the presence of quantities of chemical ammunition in the warehouses of armed rebels against the Syrian state and used against the Syrian army soldiers earlier.
