Zarif: Saudi Arabia does not want to reduce tension with Iran

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday he did not believe that Saudi Arabia wanted to defuse tensions with Iran, given that it was present under the influence of the American campaign to pressure Iran.

“I think our neighbors, especially Saudi Arabia, do not want to” reduce tension, “Zarif said at the Munich Security Conference.

Zarif added that the French and Japanese efforts to push Iran and the United States to the negotiating table “found deaf ears” because US President Donald Trump believed that Iran was on the verge of economic collapse.

“He is wrong … everything they want is related to regime change,” Zarif said.
